Semaglutide and Tirzepatide: GLP-1 Medications

Why GLP-1 Medications Show Promise:

How They Work

Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide act on GLP-1 receptors, which play a role in appetite and food intake regulation. These medications have shown potential in clinical studies to slow gastric emptying and improve insulin release, contributing to weight reduction.

Reported Results

Studies have reported that Semaglutide can help achieve around 15% body weight reduction, while Tirzepatide may lead to even greater results, with up to 20% weight loss observed in some participants. Additionally, these medications have been associated with improved metabolic health markers like blood sugar levels and cardiovascular risk factors.

Other Health Considerations

Beyond weight loss, these medications have shown potential in improving blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease, contributing to overall metabolic health.

Other Weight Loss FAQ's

Unlike other weight loss medications, prescription GLP-1 medications address the underlying biology that is most important for weight loss. GLP-1 medications are powerful, naturally-occurring hormones made by your gut that send signals to your brain to decrease your appetite, improve your metabolic system, and regulate your digestion so you can feel full longer and maximize nutrient absorption.

A physician will review your completed intake form information and determine which weight loss medication best meets your medical needs, as well as answer any questions you might have about medication interactions during your initial doctor visit. GLP-1 medications can be safely taken with other common prescription medications—including those for blood pressure, thyroid, and diabetes—and have no contraindications with other prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Nu Image Medical is committed to helping members receive their medication as quickly as possible, whether it’s their initial prescription or subsequent refills. Most of the shortages reported stemmed from supply chain issues, and most of these issues have already been resolved.

According to clinical studies, the most common symptoms associated with the use of GLP-1 medications are gastrointestinal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and constipation. Other common adverse effects include injection site reactions, headache, and nasopharyngitis, but these effects do not usually result in discontinuation of the drug. Please discuss with your physician any contraindications and other warnings and precautions before starting a GLP-1 medication.
